Animals never die

Befouled jaws buried under the vault
of this dim skin, severing to bite
own lips, and clearly savouring the piecemeal
for who knows how long it had been into an exile,
reddening the flour all the while
infesting the oils into wounds to pause the cuts
and cherish your spite.

When last summers, the sun grew
I pressed my only heart together,
and hurried through the thorny flesh
I was a child then,
until you stupefied me with your bird,
tossed me into your animal
of no shame
and now you are absconding but
I won’t let you go-

Go nowhere, not near your children
unless I break against your doors
guarded through winters of felicity
where animals being packaged in parcels
with your spits
unless I darken those rooms where you
lured me as a child and stab you a million times
with bare hands
It shall be enough but animal never dies till
I eat myself.

When I moved into your bed
I was not alone— there were
two of us
A married woman and a virgin
To sleep with you
I had to offer the virgin in
I did so
This slaughter is permissible
in law
Not the indignity of it
And I bore the onslaught of
the insult
The next morning
I looked at my blood stained
I washed my hands
But the moment I stood
before the mirror
I found her standing there
The one whom I thought I
had slaughtered last night
Oh God!
Was it too dark in your bed
I had to kill one and I killed
the other ?

~Amrita Pritam

Just remembered reading it somewhere while I saw you want to kill the animal all the while you gave into the animals own instinct. But does it not want the same too?

@Blasphemous Aesthete, That's why I said "animals never die" and that's why it was a better choice to just leave everything and rest forever.
